Check out my about.me profile!
After spending the past two summers watching some really great movies, I decided to make my own list of top 25 movies of all time. This is MY LIST, and the choices differ from person to person. You are more than welcome to sneer and boo the movies below, but these are my favourite.
25. The Great Escape(1963)
I watched this movie as a kid, and was totally blown away by it. The acting of the likes of Steve McQueen, Richard Attenborough and James Garner keeps you totally involved with the plot that revolves around the escape planned by a group of war prisoners during the world war 2 era. Based on a true story, their leader decides to try to take out several hundred all at once, from a heavily fortified German prison camp.
24. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels(1998)
A typical Guy Ritchie movie. Set in England, four guys pool their money in a high stakes card game and end up broke. But the story doesnt end there, there are a bunch of marijuana growers, a black underworld don, a group of thugs and two antique guns which help saving these guys’ asses. One of the most funniest movies Ive seen.

23. L.A. Confidential(1997)

L.A. Confidential is set in 1950′s and Los Angeles is the seedy backdrop for this intricate noir-ish tale of police corruption and Hollywood sleaze. When someone’s killing imprisoned mob boss Mickey Cohen’s gang. Three very different cops are all after the truth. Guy pearce(Ed Exley) does a brilliant job playing the boy-scout kinda cop, who is the golden boy of the police force, Russel Crowe as the short tempered Bud White and Kevin Spacey as Jack Vincennes try investigating a murder of a cop who was killed mysteriously in a massacre at a local restaurant. A total timepass thriller.
22.Udaan(2010)
The acting makes this movie my favourite hindi flick. Ronit Roy as the abusive father and Rajat Barmecha as the 16 yr old play their role to perfection. If you havent watched it yet, watch it! NOW!
21. Pulp Fiction(1994)
Directed by Quentin Tarantino. Should i say more?
20. Kung Fu Panda(2008)
You might think Kung Fu Panda being ranked above Pulp Fiction must be an accident. But as master Oogway says “There are no accidents…”

Kickass animation, awesome characterisation, unintentionally and intentionally witty dialogues, and Jack Black give us our favourite panda. Great movie.
19. The Social Network(2010)
The story- not so great. David Fincher+Jesse Eisenberg’s acting- brilliant! Who would have thought a story about a coding geek building a web site which becomes a world wide phenomenon would become the best movie of 2010? I certainly hadnt. But leave it to David Fincher to make even the boring look non-boring. I watched this movie 3 times already, and for a computer science engineer like me, this movie doesnt stop being fascinating.
18. Oldeuboi (Oldboy) (2003)
After being kidnapped and imprisoned for 15 years, Oh Dae-Su is released, only to find that he must find his captor in 5 days. This Korean movie filled with action and thrilling sequences is a must watch if your bored of watching conventional movies and want something to blow you away in 2 hours.
17. Saving Private Ryan(1998)
Easily the best war movie Ive ever seen. The opening sequence is shot so realistically that it really portrays the brutality of wars. Amidst the fighting, two brothers are killed in action. Earlier in New Guinea, a third brother is KIA. Their mother, Mrs. Ryan, is to receive all three of the grave telegrams on the same day. The United States Army Chief of Staff, George C. Marshall, is given an opportunity to alleviate some of her grief when he learns of a fourth brother, Private James Ryan, and decides to send out 8 men (Cpt. Miller and select members from 2nd Rangers) to find him and bring him back home to his mother
16. Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind(2004)

Emotionally withdrawn Joel Barish (Jim Carrey) and unhinged free spirit Clementine Kruczynski (Kate Winslet) strike up a relationship on a Long Island Rail Road train. They are inexplicably drawn to each other, despite their radically different personalities.
Although they apparently do not realize it at the time, Joel and Clementine are in fact former lovers, now separated after having spent two years together. After a nasty fight, Clementine hires a firm Lacuna, Inc. to erase all her memories of their relationship. Upon discovering this, Joel is devastated and decides to undergo the procedure himself, a process that takes place while he sleeps.
Much of the film takes place in Joel’s mind. As his memories are erased, Joel finds himself revisiting them in reverse. Upon seeing happier times of his relationship with Clementine from earlier in their relationship, he struggles to preserve at least some memory of her and his love for her. Despite his efforts, the memories are slowly erased, with the last memory of Clementine telling him to “Meet me in Montauk”.
Inception like movie.
15. The Usual Suspects(1995)
Watch it for Kevin Spacey’s acting and a thrilling climax.
14. Schindler’s List(1993)
13. Fight Club(1999)
12. UP(2009)
11. Inception(2010)
10. A Beautiful Mind(2001)
9. The Godfather (1972)
8. Memento(2000)
7. 12 Angry Men (1957)
6. Cidade De Deus (City Of God) (2002)
5.V for Vendetta (2006)
4. Inglorious Basterds (2009)
3. The Dark Knight (2008)
2. Forrest Gump (1994)
1. Shawshank Redemption (1994)
